White Butterfly

Perfect, beautiful butterfly
With wings as white as snow,
Are you a sign from heaven
Has a promise been bestowed?

He filled her life with laughter
And loved her every day,
But nothing lasts forever
One day he went away.

Did he follow the angels
Through heaven's pearly gate,
Then remembered the promise
To her,  his lifetime mate?

He promised he'd send a sign
After his soul set sail,
For distance between life and death
Is merely a gossamer veil.

His soul is on the other side
But a  sign she deeply needs,
Oh, beautiful, white butterfly
Her heartache has been freed.
